Hi, my name is Matt. In 2012, I graduated from the Dance Academy Lucia Marthas Amsterdam, as both a performing dancer and a dance teacher. I played in several musicals such as Legally Blonde and De Producers, and I danced with national and international artists such as Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Alain Clark, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Candy Dulfer. At home and abroad I have danced with dance companies such as TNSP (Jana Hicks & Marijke Eliasberg), Isabelle Beernaert, Project Sally. In 2012 I participated in SYTYCD where I finished in the last 22. In 2013 I was awarded a scholarship that allowed me to train for 7 months at Peridance Capezio Center in NYC.
At the moment I also dance with Samadhi Dance Company, with which I have performances at home and abroad.
In my classes I think it is important that there is a nice familiar atmosphere, so that every dancer can give 100%. I work with large movements in which flow, technique and freedom of movement are central. I think it’s important that the dancers forgive themselves completely and go to the extreme!
Since a few years I have my own dance school in Amsterdam together with a friend; “Danslab North”.
At the Leiden Ballet & Theater School I give modern dance lessons, as well as commercial/pop/show at the preliminary training.
