Bernadette Dengler

Hello, my name is Bernadette, called Detti. I am Austrian by origin.

I knew I wanted to be a ballerina when I was 6 years old. In my youth I already danced in operettas and large ballet performances in various theaters. I also participated in international competitions such as the Prix de Lausanne and auditioned for various ballet companies in Italy and Germany.
At one point I wanted more than just ballet.
After a year of musical conservatory in Vienna, I was accepted at the AHK in Amsterdam, where I completed the Jazz and Musical education.

After that I sang and danced in various musicals such as Crazy for you, Beauty and the Beast, The Secret Garden, 3 Musketeers and The Baker’s Wife)
But I also danced with the Deutsches Showballet in Berlin and with Lorn MacDougal and sang in the Rock band Kingsroad, Dinnershow Paris goes Vegas and with the Jazz band Fine & Mellow.

In addition to my activities on stage, I also worked as a choreographer for, among others, Miga Entertainment and TFN, Daphne Bruineberg Productions  where I always strive to tell the story through dance and to deepen the characters through their way of moving.

I teach ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, modern, pilates, singing and playing.
In 2017 I also completed a Coaching training, to be able to offer my students mental support on their way as an artist with my company stARTISTcoaching .

In my lessons I think it is important that every student is progressed at his level, no matter where you start. Technique from your center, your muscle strength and your own possibilities is a must for every dance style, that’s why I pay a lot of attention to this. The goal is ultimately to translate the music and your feeling to your body in a healthy way and to be able to express yourself in this way.

In my opinion, this is how you experience the most pleasure in dancing.

At the Leiden Ballet and Theater School I teach ballet and pilates (both classes are taught in English!) and I will provide play/singing/musical modules for the preliminary training.
